In short: your recordings and texts stay on your device. We don't receive them, and we don't want to.

2. The Wavewrite app

Processing on your device

Wavewrite turns speech into text entirely on your iPhone, iPad or Mac. Recordings, imported files, transcripts and translations are not transmitted to us or to third parties. The app has no account, no ads and no analytics or tracking services.

Permissions

The app only uses the microphone while you record. It only uses Apple's speech recognition (Apple Speech) if you select that model. You can revoke both at any time in your device settings.

Downloading models

The app downloads the models for speech recognition and translation once from Hugging Face (Hugging Face, Inc., USA) over an encrypted connection. As with any download, the provider receives technically necessary data, in particular your IP address. None of your content is transmitted. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR, as the app cannot work without a model. Language packs for Apple Speech and Apple translation are downloaded by iOS directly from Apple.

Storage and deletion

Transcripts and audio are stored in the app's protected, encrypted storage. In Settings you decide when they are deleted automatically. With “Immediately”, the app stores nothing. If you use iCloud or computer backups, this data may be included in your own backup. If you delete the app, iOS removes all of its data from the device.

Purchase

Purchases are handled exclusively by Apple through the App Store. We receive no payment or account data, only aggregated sales reports without personal data.

Crash reports

If you have allowed sharing analytics with app developers in the iOS Settings, Apple provides us with anonymised crash reports. They contain no recordings and no texts. You can change this under Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.

Hosting

This website is hosted by ALL-INKL.COM – Neue Medien Münnich, Hauptstraße 68, 02742 Friedersdorf, Germany. When you visit, the host processes technically necessary data such as IP address, time, requested page and browser in server log files. This is needed to deliver the site securely (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). We do not analyse this data.

No cookies, no tracking

This website sets no cookies and uses no analytics. It loads no content from third parties, including fonts or scripts.

Email

If you email us, we use your details only to answer your request (Art. 6(1)(b) or (f) GDPR) and delete them once they are no longer needed for that purpose.

4. Your rights

You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection (Art. 15–21 GDPR). Contact support@wavewrite.app. You can also lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority.
